Sleep Before Exams: Is it Overrated or Essential?

Studying everything in the last minute and pulling an all-nighter seemed heroic in my first year, until I forgot basic terms in the exam. Now, I prioritize at least 5 hours of sleep before major tests and exams ,even if I skip a topic or two. My retention’s way better.
Do you sleep before exams—or do you think it’s a waste of time?

Sleep is important whether its before or after studying. Take a 1hr break session between study time. If you are not taking proper sleep because of the fear of exam, you will start having negative thoughts and you will feel drowsy and depressed.
So sleep is more important than exam :sleeping_face:

Sleep is essential, even before exams. It helps to rest your brain and body as well and clear the clutter or unwanted pieces of information.

In first year I also felt difficult to sleep, keep on revising, slept for few hours.
But in second year I slept 4-5 hours.
First year was little more tensed than second year because it’s first time writing a university exam.
But, sleep is essential for remembering, so maintain a good sleep pattern always, before exam, after exam and a whole.

People often take very less sleep during exams but a good sleep before the exam is very essential.
Sleep will calm your mind and body .
Your mind will be able to think even more clearly .
You will feel energetic on exam day .
Considering all these points yes a good sleep is highly essential.

Essential. Many of them pull a all nighter before the exam to cup up all the things, but I’d suggest to use the time for beauty sleep. Your Memory’s beauty sleep. You don’t want to end up in the examination hall stressed, memory fogged and sluggish.

I will go for extremely essential, its mental break which is need to the body for performing it’s best for the exam.

From my experiences, yes most of the time I try to take maximum of 4 to 5 hours of sleep before the exams. Also sometimes it didn’t go according to the plan as covering the syllabus became the primary goal.
