Should you be taking vitamins ?

We see vitamins ads and some people take extra multivitamins everyday but that doesn’t mean they are necessary or safe.

Here is what you should do?

  • Listen to your body : constant fatigue, hair loss or weak immunity signals a deficiency
  • Get a basic blood test : especially for vitamin D, B12, iron and calcium.
  • Whole food are always the best source , supplements are additional needs so talk to a doctor or registered dietician so they can guide you based on your needs
  • Common vitamins many women may need as they age : Iron, vit D, Vit B12
  • Remember too much is not good : sometimes taking in more fat slouble vitamins like A and D do more harm than good

Did you ever take a vitamin because everyone usually does ?

Yes, I also have taken vitamin tablets by doctor’s prescription due to iro deficiency anemia. That’s for 1 week, after that continued by taking vitamin sourced food.

I think in today’s society it becomes a fashion to follow trend or do whatever everyone is doin. To take extra supplements or medicine for natural things which we can get from the food we are eating. I think the food we eat is enough rather than taking the vitamins tablets which also have other preservative or bindings

Vitman through food is a great Source because Taking Tablet for Vitamin can cause side effects on our body and if you want take tablets for Vitamin you should first ask your Doctor

Vitamins are very important to our body, person who has vitamins deficiency doctors prescribed them .
I don’t have any vitamins deficiency so till now i don’t take any vitamins.
But recently my sister has vitamins deficiency she is taking vitamins and taking complete supplements.

I just got a review from doctor im having vitamin deficiency and start take supplement.
So if there is any deficiency, do take supplements.

Whether you should take vitamins depends on your diet, lifestyle, and health needs. If you eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and protein, you may not need supplements. However, people with certain conditions, restricted diets, or specific needs—such as pregnant women or older adults—can benefit from targeted vitamins like B12, D, or folic acid. Always check with a healthcare provider before starting supplements, as taking too much of some can be harmful.

No I haven’t but with a prescription from healthcare professionals, it really will be good to have a supplement

I took zinc and multivitamin supplements for a month post dengue recovery, I believe it worked well for me.

Yes, i take vitamin tablet due to iron deficiency prescribed by doctor . As vitamins are essential for the body they can be taken in the form of vegetables than tablets

**This is such an important point!**I’ve seen people take multivitamins daily just because others are doing it without even knowing if they need them. I once had a vitamin D deficiency and only realized after a blood test. So yes, supplements help, but only when your body actually needs them.

Yes I have taken the vitamin tablet due to vitamin b deficiency prescribed by the physician. If you are taking the tablets then you need to switch it with the vegetables and fruits after completing the period of vitamin tablet prescribed by physician.

If it’s prescribed by doctor then you should take but not for too long. Depends only on tablets will not fulfill the requirement. You have to add veggies and fruits with healthy diet.

Honestly, I have never taken vitamin tablets till now. I do believe vitamins are important for our health, but not in excess. Our body usually gives signals when something’s lacking like fatigue or hair fall and other. Instead of taking supplements just because others do, it’s better to get tested and take them only when truly needed. Too much of anything, even vitamins, can do more harm than good.

only prescribed one

i usually take Riboflavin along with vitamin b complex as i get frequent mouth sores but only after consulting with a physician or a pharmacist

True. They should not be taken without the consultation with a physician or a medicine specialist. Every vitamin has a time-period to act on the body and beyond that also if we keep taking them, it is only creating burden on the liver and kidneys, the two vital organs of the body. Before taking any vitamin, recent blood tests are crucial as that can highlight if these vitamins are needed or not. If one is already on certain medication, then one should be more careful as few vitamin tablets can interact with the medications and this can decrease the efficiency of the other medication as well. It is always better to obtain it from the natural food sources and time-to-time when deficiency happens and it’s impacting an area of life or creating other hardships, then only these vitamin tablets should be taken, otherwise through diet in 3 months time, most of the deficiencies can be corrected.

Today vitamin supplements are taken as sugar candies by people
I think vitamin minerals rich food including in your diet is far better than taking sources vitamins

It is always best to consult a doctor before taking any medication on your own. Doctors will exactly know if you are in a condition for supplements or just diet changes are needed to improve your health. Self medicating without actually knowing your body needs and condition would cause more risks than benefits in the future.
