Seed Cycling: Natural Method for Hormonal Balance

Seed cycling is a natural approach that uses specific seeds at different phases of menstrual cycle to help support hormone balance.

The menstrual cycle has two main phases:

    1. Follicular phase (Day 1–14) – from menstruation to ovulation

    2. Luteal phase (Day 15–28) – post-ovulation

Seeds to include:

  • Follicular phase: Flax seeds + pumpkin seeds. This helps in maintaining estrogen levels balance.

  • Luteal phase: Sunflower seeds + sesame seeds. This helps in progesterone.

Benefits:

  • Helps regulate menstrual cycles

  • Reduces PMS symptoms like bloating, mood swings, and cramps

  • Supports fertility and hormonal health.

It sure helps to maintain hormone levels along with daily exercise and adequate sleep and I think it is particularly helpful for someone trying to maintain their hormone levels after recovering from pcos. This can help but I personally think sleep plays a pivotal role because it all circles back to our body clock, the pineal gland, which is again controlled by hypothalamus which releases Gnrh.

Interesting concept. Seed cycling is popular as a complementary dietary approach, but scientific evidence is still limited. Gynecologists generally emphasize balanced nutrition, adequate calories, healthy fats, and lifestyle factors as the foundation for hormonal health—seed cycling may be tried safely as an adjunct, not a substitute for medical care.
