FMGs Settling Down in That Country of pursing MBBS/MD

Over the years, I’ve come across many Indian students who go out to various countries to pursue MBBS /MD (FMGs in Indian parlance).
And there are many countries in this list.

My question is:
What are the opportunities for them to stay back in the country of pursuing MBBS? If yes, is this a lucrative option for them? Do some of them settle down?
Because ultimately they do need doctors for there too.

Very good question!!

Countries like big 5 USA, UK, Australia, Canada, New zealand are the English native countries that provide residency as we follow their curriculum and screening and then people can stay and practice.

Certain other countries have their screening exams to practice.

For countries like Georgia and soviet countries, They provide a junior doctor certificate to practice under a senior doctor. Provided that we know their language fluently and the pay is really less.
This causes Students to move back to their countries and give screening there after graduation or move to another country like the above mentioned big 5 countries after passing their screening tests.

That makes sense. Thanks, Soumya!

Yes, there are promising opportunities to stay back in the country where one pursues MBBS, particularly for those who clear the local licensing exams. With many nations facing a growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals, international graduates are often welcomed. It can be a highly rewarding path, offering not just better facilities and financial stability, but also a chance to grow in a well-structured healthcare system. Over time, several graduates choose to settle down, contributing meaningfully to the medical workforce while building a fulfilling life abroad.
