Indian students who go out to pursue MBBS in a foreign country, upon return they are called foreign medical graduates (FMGs) in India.
Now, if an Indian student ventures out to Pakistan to pursue MBBS, will this guy be allowed to practice as a doctor in India or be eligible to do MD/MS,etc,?
What will be the fate of this dare-devil guy in your opinion?
To set the tone, I am expecting scholarly as well as spicy answers.
Why would you go to Pakistan to do MBBS in the first place?!
Honestly, if an Indian student dares to do MBBS in Pakistan, I’d call it bold—but borderline reckless. It’s like running into a storm with an umbrella made of paper—dramatic, but doomed. No matter how good the education might be, India’s clear stance shuts all doors for such grads—no license, no FMGE, no MD/MS dreams. It’s not just about academics; it’s a geopolitical no-go zone. That student may come back with knowledge, but in India, it’ll be as good as a souvenir.
MBBS graduates from Pakistan are not eligible to appear for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) or practice medicine in India. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has declared that medical degrees from Pakistan are not valid for the purpose of FMGE or practicing medicine in India.
