Guys, what is your take on this significant issue?
There was a PIL filed in Supreme Court of India that seeks: “Doctors across the Country should be mandated to prescribe only generic medicines instead of brand names.”
A Bench of Justice Vikram Nath, Justice Sanjay Karol, and Justice Sandeep Mehta observed, “We believe that the doctors should be mandated only to prescribe generic medicines…"

Other than treating or avoiding highly contagious or carcinogen risk, this should be standard practice. I mean, what’s the point of having a professional called a PHARMACIST if the doctor is trying to be an all-rounder?

it is supposedly a step to stop the doctors being bribed by huge pharma companies.. lets hope its in the right direction.

Its dicey decision…provided the govt is ready to take onus of any drug efficacy issues, transparency in maintaining the production and complete responsibility if any mishap happens due to faulty medicines. If they are advocating for it, they should guarantee or atleast take responsibility.
