Why Don’t Biotech Undergraduates Get Paid?

For many biotech undergraduates, finding an internship or a job is very hard in the first place.
Landing an internship or research position is exciting—until they realize it often comes with no paycheck. This raises the question: Why isn’t the biotech field investing financially in its budding talent ?

I guess because there are lot of students competing and there are very limited seats for them .
Also funding can be another reason . A lot of research labs and biotech startups face financial crisis.
Hand on skills that students have are de-valued in biotechnology .

Due to high supply and low demand it seems common since it don’t get paid even they are experienced
