Ever noticed that no matter what, some people always seem to get biten by mosquitoes? It’s not just bad luck - it’s biology
Blood Type Matters (A Little):
Studies show that mosquitoes are more attracted to people with Type O blood than A, B, or AB. They can sense chemical markers on the skin linked to blood type, so if you’re O, you might get more bites.
But It’s Not Just Blood:
Other factors play an even bigger role:
-
Carbon dioxide: Bigger bodies or people who exhale more CO₂ are likely to attract more mosquitoes.
-
Body odor & skin bacteria: Certain natural scents make you irresistible to mosquitoes.
-
Heat & sweat: Warm, sweaty skin is an open invitation.
-
Clothing color: Dark clothes? Mosquitoes see you better!
Even if you’re Type O, you can reduce bites with repellent, light-colored clothing and keeping your skin cool and dry. Mosquitoes may “prefer” some people, but prevention works for everyone!
Have you ever felt like mosquitoes bite you more?
