Soft Skills Required for Internship or job Hunting

First and foremost, understanding the job description and tailoring the resume accordingly is important. Always keep the resume updated. Graduates not knowing how to email the CV is very surprising that too in this digitlised era. Next comes the communication skill, that most lack. Like, without proper communication, how can we present ourselves to the recruiters? Self talking / talking to your peers about the subject may improve the communication skill wisely. Another skill is building confidence in presenting or expressing the knowledge. Finally, Emotional Intelligence like pressure handling and active listening are important during interview as well as at the workplace. Without practice, nothing will workout. Everything is accessible nowadays, people are just hesitant to know, learn and practice.

I feel the one main skill which is required the most is the art of expressing. Some may be knowledgeable but they don’t know how to put it right in order to get what they want. Communication skills speaks a lot when coming to attain what we want.

In my opinion soft skills play a major role in landing your dream job. Proper work etiquette can be observed from the scratch by how you send you resume through the email. Recruiters are keen on observing every minute details of your behaviour and the your communication skills while interviewing you. The skills do play the key role in obtaining your job but soft skills is the factor that helps u lamd the job in the end.

Reading the position description before applying, avoid informal launguage, naming files clearly, sending polite follow - ups and we should also known about our strength and weaknesses.

True! Soft skills like communication, professionalism, & attention to detail are so important but often ignored. Thank you for highlighting this!

In my view, simple habits and genuine responses are also important parts of this job search process. By simple habits, I mean responding on time, asking clear questions, and maintaining a receptive attitude towards learning.

Soft skills provide soft power which actually has a great power, representing yourself, be it in papers in form of CV or in real time you just need the right word, tone and fit for a good first impression which will help recruiters judge the professionalism in a candidate.

Soft skills really make a big difference during applications. I’ve noticed many candidates skip basics like a proper subject line, clean formatting, or proofreading their CV. Simple habits—clarity, professionalism and attention to detail—actually create the strongest first impression.

When it comes to soft skills, one must always focus on confidence both in body language and communication. If one needs something, he/she may work to attain it which automatically reflects in their perfection and key attention to details. When these are checked - landing on a job or an internship is not hard at all!

True that.

There are many reasons beginners struggle when applying for entry-level jobs, but one major issue is often overlooked: most professional institutions, including medical schools, provide very little guidance on professional communication, essential soft skills, or career building. Students graduate with strong academic knowledge but very little understanding of how to translate it into real-world opportunities. In today’s competitive job market, it’s high time that structured training in these areas becomes an integral part of the curriculum.

I have also seen candidates apply for irrelevant post without checking proper requirements of education and experience.
Some candidate doesn’t know how to make professional resume. These are some reasons which make hiring process difficult for candidates.

Soft skills truly do make a difference when hunting for internships or jobs. Effective communication and adaptation can open opportunities more quickly than we anticipate.

In this era , all focuses on the technical skills , core related skills in institute as the ATS- regulated resume has become more and more popular without mentioning soft skills as soft skill also determine your skill set in career which most people not aware.

From developing your resume to begin on interview rounds.

How does one showcases itself is the defining factor

Soft skills are crucial, yet many applicants ignore them. Clear communication, attention to detail, and professional email etiquette make a strong first impression. A well-structured CV, correct subject lines, and error-free writing show seriousness and respect for the opportunity.

I have also noticed that a lot of them do not even read the location of the job, assume it to be a remote opportunity. At times, the job isn’t even for their country. Another issue faced is some people post that they are looking for a work-from-home job, and there are others who blindly comment ’interested’ as if the job seeker is offering the job.So basically reading mindfully and understanding the requirements of the job is the major skill lacking in many of them.

Soft skills are the bridge between knowledge and opportunity. These turn capability into confidence. They reflect how we carry ourselves beyond the resume. Many candidates focus only on qualifications, but soft skills truly define professionalism. A well-structured email, error-free CV, and clear communication create the first impression. These reflect the seriousness and dedication towards the opportunity.
