As Modules 1β4 of our Clinical Research Methodology & Scientific Writing series have been launched on the newsgram academy, I wanted to open the floor for discussion before the sessions start.
Research is often taught theoretically, but many students still feel lost when it comes to actually doing research.
We are planning some short courses and skill-based sessions based on what students genuinely need help with.
Help us out as to..
Which area of research feels most confusing or intimidating to you?
What topic do you wish was taught separately as a practical short course?
What stopped you from starting or completing a research project?
Medical, dental, pharmacy, nursing, allied health, public health, and life science students, all perspectives are welcome.
Drop your thoughts below. Your responses may shape upcoming sessions and focused modules.
i feel like topics like literature review writing, research paper drafting, plagiarism checking and reference management should be taught separately through practical short courses with some real examples.
I also think workshops on how to publish papers, use referencing tools, prepare posters, and avoid common research mistakes would help many beginners like us.
Another challenge is selecting a good research topic and designing a proper methodology. Many students lack mentorship and guidance during the initial stages of research. And fear of publication rejection is also one reason students delay or stop research projects.
I would like if you taught how to write research paper.
How to publish research in journals and literature review as a short course.
For me, Lack of a proper mentorship and difficulty in managing time alongside motherhood are the main challenges that stop me for giving time to research.
First of all please add some soft skills such as communication skill development fir career growth and then the hardest part is biostatistics, i personally feel that many students whoβs maths are not strong enough struggle for this.
I would like to learn everything about clinical research methodology and scientific writing, right from the basics and fundamentals. I am someone who knows nothing about research publications. I want to know how to select a topic, with step-by-step guidance from there on till the last stage of writing and publication. This is not a part of my BDS curriculum, and I would really love to learn how this works from the experts here at MEDBOUND.
