What is okra ?

Okra is a tender green vegetable grown in the hot humid , climate known for the high fibre content and okra is originated in west Africa

Benefits of okra water

Increases cervical mucus production - The nutrition in okra is to increase the mucus production ,which can alleviate the sensation of dryness

Boost immune system -okra water contains vitamin c which helps to strengthen the body against infection , virus, and diseases

Regulates digestion -okra contains high soluble fibre which slow downs the absorption of sugar from intestine to the blood stream which also feels full longer which support for the weight loss

Ingredients - Fresh okra ( 1 or 2 pounds depending on the size of the jar )Glass jar ,water , strainer

Preparation -

  1. Wash the okra water and remove the stems

  2. Slice the okra pods or chop coarsely

  3. Place the the okra in the jar contains water

  4. Refrigerate and let sit for 8 hours or overnight

  5. The water become slimy ,slightly, thick and develop neutral produces somewhat earthy taste

  6. Once the water turns to gel like substance strain by using strainer

  7. Add lemon or honey to enhance the flavour it completely optional

  8. Store the okra water and refrigerator upto 3 days

    How to drink : okra water has neutral taste and slimy, thick texture diluting the liquid make easy to consume

    Use okra water one part two part other liquid

Add mint to enhance the flavour

It can also used in juices mojito smoothies , blends and tea infusion.

Mostly Okra water is going viral because of it’s potential usefulness in regulating the blood sugar levels. Considering the global burden of Diabetes, it has started to become viral everywhere. What research has indicated is, maybe the mucilage that’s attached to the surface of Okra helps in lowering the absorption of excess glucose in the intestine. In addition, Okra has polysaccharides in them along with ample polyphenolic compounds like important flavonoids and they are good fiber sources too. So, all of these can be helpful against many other diseases too inclusive of Diabetes. Talking about okra water, not much evidence-based research studies have emerged up until now and the inferences still exist at the preliminary level. So, we need to wait till more research has been taken up in this area to know the real clinical benefits of okra water.

I feel it’s a simple and natural way to improve digestion and boost immunity.
But it’s important to remember it’s not a cure and should be taken along with a balanced diet.
