What About Okra Water?
Recent clinical studies have shown that okra supplementation may reduce, Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) and HbA1c levels.
Most previous studies used capsules, extracts, or powders, leaving limited data on traditional okra water preparations.
A recent hospital-based study found that daily overnight-infused okra water for 15 days significantly improved:
Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS)
Postprandial Blood Sugar (PPBS)
Diabetes symptom scores
Though Okra water may be a safe and affordable, it is not a replacement for proper medicinal treatment.More long-term randomized studies are still needed.
I do remember reading about Okra being helpful in managing blood glucose levels and for improving digestion and hydration. But Okra water is something new.
While okra water can be a great addition to the daily diet of a diabetic, it cannot replace medicines and insulin shots. Patients can be guided to make it a part of the overall lifestyle changes they have to make to manage diabetes.
It will be a good way to manage diabetes but entire dependence on it for treating diabetes remains questionable. More researches will be required for this.
Okra can complement but not replace evidence based medical management of diabetes. Proper dietary changes, life style modification and regular medication and monitoring still remains the 1st line treatment for diabetes.
Informative and very well written. Okra water seems to have some potential in helping manage diabetes, especially in supporting blood sugar levels like fasting and post-meal values.
But the evidence is still limited, more long-term studies are needed.
It can be a good supportive choice, but not a replacement for proper medical treatment.
Every treatment requires an alternative. Hence though this cannot be the main cure, it serves to be a better alternative to keep everything under check
A proper evidence based research and clinical trials should be done before justifying such statements. Also, no herbal aur lifestyle change should ever be considered as alternative to actual allopathic treatment.
