Sometimes things get too much to handle, especially towards the end of mbbs that you might feel burned out. How do i keep going and rediscover the zest for medicine?

When MBBS feels overwhelming, take a step back and reconnect with why you chose medicine. Focus on small wins, take regular breaks to avoid burnout, and seek support from peers or mentors who can relate to your struggles. Exploring different areas within medicine can refresh your perspective, and remember that maintaining mental well-being is just as important as academic progress. Keep your eyes on the future, whether it’s acing NEET PG or diving into your chosen specialty.

The final stretch of MBBS is quite mentally exhausting. Burnout is normal but it’s not the end.
Here’s what you can do:-
Acknowledge burnout without shame
Try to understand everyday is not productive.
Protect your mindspace

Honestly, it’s completely okay to feel burnt out — especially during MBBS. You’re not alone. What’s helped me (and many others) is just accepting that it’s fine to pause. Step away for a bit, talk to someone outside the medical world, eat something you love, or binge a show guilt-free.

Yes, these kinds of techniques help. You can do meditation including box breathing.

Being in the Final Year, these are the same things which I thought that - How are the things going to be during Internship and further.
As I have heard about these things from the seniors and also have asked them that how to manage?

Things I got to know are -
• Positive Attitude towards the work you have. As thinking matters the most. It can makes some work but can breaks too.
• Try to be Patient.
• In free time, try to distract yourself from the working zone and explore the hobbies for refreshment.
• Good Hydration and Nutrition
• Meditation, to relieve stress and prepare yourself for the day.

It’s normal to feel burned out near the end of MBBS because of the accumulation of long hours, pressure, and expectations.
Reconnect with what inspired you to continue, such as patient testimonials, advice from a mentor, or an event that sparked your passion.
You can rekindle the spark by taking breaks, talking it out, and finding little victories throughout the day.

Burnout is normal, we are humans and it may happen again at some point in life. Realising and taking steps to look forward in life is the first step to success.
I also felt the same during my final year, maybe due to excess clinical work, exam stress, patient search and all, everything seemed lighter once I came out of that zone.
As you are in that phase right now, relax, think other than your daily routine, and enjoy normal life. By doing so, you will be on track again.
