Is Pharma Just “Plan B” for Many Students?

In my first year, I was shocked how many of my classmates admitted pharmacy wasn’t their first choice—they wanted medicine or engineering but landed here instead. It made me wonder: does starting pharmacy as a “backup plan” affect how we see our future? Did you choose pharmacy by choice or chance? And has your opinion changed over time? Let’s talk honestly!

Pharmacy is responsible and respected field.
It is profession of responsibility.
Many students doing pharmacy for doing business were many doing as a plan b not scoring much marks in competitive exams or not selecting in doctors or some other field.
I choose pharmacy for business it is good field were you can do many thing if ot does not work then you can do business.

Pharmacy is a respectable field and responsible field wheather you work as pharmacist or work in industry or hospital

Though i am not in the field of pharmacy i have seen people taking pharmacy after the failure of neet attempts . But pharmacy also has vast field those who enrolled in it know the value of this course

yes. as i am bi.p.c student hoping for a mbbs seat, i have set my top priority for the mbbs. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen and i happened to be a pharmacist. But one thing the feeling of plan B may lasts a week after joining pharmacy. Because the amount of subject and the interest we put and knowledge, we gain during the 4 years eventually changes our mind.

Chosing pharmacy was my choice because it combines my interest in science with a desire to help others. It offers a strong understanding of medicines and their role in improving health. Pharmacy also provides diverse career options in hospitals, research, industry, and community care. Most importantly, it allows me to make a direct impact on people’s well-being through safe and effective use of medications.

I will suggest them dont make it plan C even :smiling_face_with_tear:

As per the standards of the course and their importance are not equally seen here;their priority and their skills are not shown and published. But PharmD is a back up plan for me at the early stage of my career as i don’t know it’s priority but later on at the end of my course iam happy that i had a great knowledge and skills in PharmD.

Not a pharmacist
But I’ve seen my friends choose that when they couldn’t clear NEET
And I think it’s a good choice

Same thing happened with me. I too was shocked. Where majority came expressing it was never their plan, I felt somewhere grateful that it’s my choice of interest and not just a forceful step. I had a single line - I was curious to unfold the magic of medicines in curing diseases.

I was landed here because of my farther too

I chose pcm in 11th because i wanted to join NDA. After 12th i chose D. Pharmacy as a backup but failed my one and only attempt for NDA. Then I completed my diploma and now i am in 4th year of my B. Pharmacy.
At first Pharma was a 2nd option. But I started focusing and eventually got addicted to it .

I’ve seen many students got into pharmacy curriculum, get completed the degree and during academic they are also preparing for medical entrance exam, they appeared like 3-4 times and after completing one degree they join the medical college at ahe of 25 years plus or something. According to my opinion pharmacy is Plan B/ option.

I’m also a pharmacy graduate. Honestly, a lot of students I know came into pharmacy because they couldn’t clear NEET.
Since it’s still a part of the healthcare field, they saw it as a second option.
