Indeed! There is a certification course to become a dental assistant in USA. However, it varies from state to state. In Illinois state (for eg, Chicago ) , there is no formal requirement of certification to become a dental assistant. So one can start working as assistant under the guidance of a dentist.

Training a new dental assistant needs a lot of patience in the beginning.. the best way is for them to learn from other experienced assistants if any are there.. you have to keep guiding them in each procedure and give them clear instructions before every procedure..
and brief them after procedure as well..
India also have few varied courses for dental assistant, lab technician and other posts as well now .. but these have to checked if they are approved by the authorities or recognised by corresponding bodies .. the structure of these courses are still a little vague.

This is really an interesting topic to discuss. Once they start working with you, if they really have interest they’ll learn soon. You can teach basic materials, hygiene practices, arranging instruments and patient communication.
