How I Hunt for a Job

Finding a job does not only entail sending resumes but this is a process of patience, learning and having faith in oneself that I have. I do not consider it a one-day work, I consider it as a process that should be done regularly on a daily basis.

To begin with, I begin by learning about myself. I understand very clearly which role I would like to perform, which skills I possess and which skills I should develop. This will make me not apply blindly everywhere. In my opinion, quality applications are more important than the quantity.

Next, I focus on my resume. I tailor it to the job description rather than have a single CV that is applicable to all positions. The slightest tiniest bits of difference count since relevance and not perfection is what the recruiters seek.

My personal strategy is seeking on job portals, company career web pages, and career sites such as LinkedIn. However, I have since been able to learn that job hunting is more than applying since networking is significant. I network with people, keep up with organizations, and learn under people who have been in the field that I would like to join.

Another significant aspect of my experience is upskilling. I continue to learn (technical skills, tools of analysis, better communication, etc.) as I wait to get opportunities. I do not view this period as an unemployment period, but rather as time to prepare.

I feel bad when I get rejected but I do not allow it to make me feel I am not good. Any rejection educates me in something, to be better at my craft, to be more self-assured or to change my attitude.

To me job searching is all about keeping focused and having faith in the process and never giving up as an opportunity will always present itself to those who do not give up.

Very well written and motivating!!

Wonderful perspective!

Well put! On point! Utilising unemployment period/waiting days as a learning phase is a great use of time.

At this era connections and references are key to land in a job. LinkedIn has surely helped me.

Quite informative!
