How hyperthyroidism fuels tachycardia

Explain how hyperthyroidism causes tachycardia ? What other sign would you except in such patient

Hyperthyroidism causes tachycardia because the excess thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) increase the body’s metabolic rate and make the heart more sensitive to adrenaline, leading to a faster heartbeat even at rest. In simple terms, the body feels like it’s running in overdrive—everything speeds up, including the heart. Along with a rapid heart rate, you may also notice weight loss despite good appetite, heat intolerance, excessive sweating, anxiety, hand tremors, irritability, trouble sleeping, and more frequent bowel movements. Some may also experience menstrual irregularities or eye changes like bulging eyes, especially in Graves’ disease.

Good insight

In simple words, hyperthyroidism cause hyper secretion of T3 and T4 thyroid hormones in blood. These hormones increase the body’s metabolic rate and create a sympathetic simulation for heart that makes it sensitive to adrenaline. As a result, heart rate is faster (tachycardia).

In these kind of patients, other signs like enlarged thyroid gland, diarrhoea , tremors and weight loss even if the appetite is good.

Hyperthyroidism increases metabolic rate by elevating thyroid hormones (T3/T4), which stimulate the heart’s beta-adrenergic receptors, leading to tachycardia.
Other signs include weight loss, heat intolerance, tremors, anxiety, and sometimes exophthalmos (bulging eyes) in Graves’ disease. The heightened sympathetic activity is what drives most of these symptoms.

Well explained

Godd insight

In hyperthyroidism, the body makes too much thyroid hormone, which overstimulates the heart and makes it beat faster
This causes tachycardia.
Other signs include weight loss, nervousness, feeling hot, sweating, shaky hands, and sometimes bulging eyes.
The body’s systems run in overdrive, leading to many of these symptoms.

The main reason is excessive Thyroid hormones tht are released that causes excessive increase in the metabolic rate of the body and that cause the problem which is sensitivity to adrenaline.
This change causes increase in heart rate that is tachycardia, also symptoms like anxiety, insomnia, tremors, bulging eyes etc.
