I’ve noticed recently that It seems like many people are no longer prioritizing education or research the way they used to.
Vloggers and influencers with little formal education, are living luxury lives and making more money than ever. Meanwhile, I see on LinkedIn that people with just a bachelor’s degree are giving career advice and raking in earnings while those with PhDs and years of experience are still struggling to move forward in their careers.
It’s kind of strange how practical skills and online fame seem to have more value than academic credentials or expertise. What’s going on? Why do you think we’re seeing this trend where education and years of hard work don’t seem to guarantee success anymore?
I am till surprised by seeing people/ candidates having less knowledge about some basic topics get a job and others who having good knowledge and experience have nothing in their hand. Hard working is not required they required only smart people who can give lectures on any topics without knowing the roots.
Exposure has overtaken education in terms of value. In a competitive job market, people with unique advantages and perspectives take centre stage. Employers prefer people with good connections and a wide variety of experiences to those who do not deviate from the standard system. But imcompetence always reveals itself sooner or later.
True. Nowadays we see people with phd without a job, and teenagers who does cringe videos online earn in lakhs. Academic and industry jobs are shrinking. It’s not fair, But it’s the new reality.
Now we live in a society where anything on social media seems to be of relevance and importance rather than real world knowledge and education. It is also sad to see that these irrelevant contents in social medias provides more money to these vloggers and bloggers than the remuneration provided to the graduates or post graduates by the companies. This situation will make our coming generation question the value of education.
Yes that’s true, Nowadays, people who are popular online are earning more than highly educated ones. Influencers without much education are living luxury lives, and those with PhDs and degrees are not getting success like before,Because of these reasons education value is dropped.
No the education hasn’t lost its value, but the people are going for short term results rather than long term with prolonged results.Vloggers and Influencers with full knowledge on subject are moving forward rather than others. Atmost Knowledge is given higher priority and experience teaches the most lessons.
Today’s era is all about marketing. We are going into a world ahead, where everything will be built on a business model gradually (now too, it is almost the same situation around). This strategy is paramount in other industries or areas, but in health sciences or related content, an amount of humanity is also crucial with the right and authentic evidence-based knowledge and this is what is lacking in recent times. Influencers know how to market themselves as they are operating on a business model, a person with career and degree is mostly into job, working in an organization and they hardly have time to get in touch with the real people around, to whom the influencers have access to. Therefore, it is very pivotal for people with degrees and credentials to create a personal brand and start an avenue through which they can reach out to the real world and real people. But sometimes, this effort comes as a risk, as everyone wants to settle in a job with good payment and the road that looks tough or a little longer one, people tend to hesitate to walk on that path. So at the end, it is all about personal choice and personal ethics and how one want to carve a path ahead through their knowldege.
Yes, @Neha87 it’s truly surprising and sometimes disheartening. These days, it often feels like confidence and presentation matter more than deep knowledge. It’s an unfair truth many face today.
Very true @caryn. These days, exposure and connections often open more doors than education alone. But at the end of the day, real skill and competence always come to light. Shortcuts might work for a while but they don’t last forever.
Yes, it’s the reality we’re living in @Rachana. Traditional paths like PhDs don’t guarantee stability anymore while digital platforms are creating unexpected success stories. It feels unfair but the world is shifting fast and sometimes, value is measured more by visibility than by depth.
Yes, it’s a sad truth @Fathimath_NA. Social media fame often gets more reward than real knowledge or education. When flashy content brings in more money than years of study, it’s natural for the next generation to question the value of education. It’s a concerning shift in priorities.
Absolutely @Abhishek_12 it’s not good for society. When quick fame is valued more than real effort and learning it sends the wrong message. We need to find a balance that respects both creativity and true knowledge.
@Yashasvini that’s true presentation and confidence win the situation and that is good but we need to value someone’s deep knowledge that is more important than having confidence and looking presentable.
Yes, it’s very true @LikhithaReddy. The gap between popularity and education is growing wider. When influencers with little education live in luxury while highly qualified people struggle, it naturally lowers the perceived value of education. It’s a tough and unfair reality of today’s world.
Absolutely right @sowjanya. Education still holds strong value but many are chasing quick success instead of long-term growth. Those influencers who truly know their subject do stand out and succeed. In the end, knowledge and experience always create a stronger and more lasting impact.
