In spite of knowing the fact that generic medicines are much affordable and reliable options, common public and some healthcare professionals still prefer branded medicines. We need to break this taboo by selecting generic medicines as they are sold without any marketing and business bias.
Generic medicine is a lower-cost alternative to branded medicine selling the same active ingredient,dosage,safety,at a significantly lower prices(efficacy as per my experience has shown variations).Choosing generic medicines can greatly reduce treatment cost while delivering the same therapeutic benefits making it easy,reliable and beneficial for patients who need long-term treatments-when sourced from reputable manufactures where quality is consistent,not compromised and clinically sound.
Main disadvantage with generic medicine is problem with consistancy. we cant blindly ensure the quality of generic drug. Advantage is obviously the cheaper cost.
If we talk about Generic v/s branded drugs , one thing is to be kept in mind is composition and quality but people focus more on âprice of drugâ.
Common psycology among population is that âCostlier is better than the cheaper one â , which directly take their mind to choose branded drug , because when it comes to health no one wants to compromise .

Government is trying to help people in many ways just people needs to understand this that if scientific studies proove that generic holds equivalence in terms of quality to branded one , one can opt for generic .

There is no significant difference in both the generic and branded drugs. Generic medicines have the same quality, efficacy and safety as in the branded drugs. There is a misconception in the public that branded drugs provide quality and effectiveness than the generic drugs. Because of some healthcare professionals, hospitals and marketing, branded drugs are praised. Even though, many investigations shows the evidence that both the drugs are same in quality and quantity many of them wonât believe it. Generic drugs are effective, and also affordable for many of them.
