Genric drug Vs Branded drug ? key difference ?
No difference as such. API is same. Though some doctors claim spurious quality in generic drug and prefer certain brands.
Both are equally effective as they have the same active ingredient and work the same way in the body.
Both are same
Both are same, same api, same compositions. The only difference you will ever found will on the excipients. Other-wise every thing is same.
if it is all the same composition , then why are they differently priced?
Branded drug is the first version of the drug developed and marketed by a pharmaceutical company.
Generic Drug is an equivalent version sold after the patent expires under its chemical name.
Thus, generic drugs are cheaper than branded drugs.
Generic drugs have the same active ingredients, safety, dosage, and effectiveness as branded drugs, but are much cheaper.
Branded drugs are original products developed after extensive research and marketing.
Generics on the other hand are approved after the brand’s patent expires and are bioequivalent, though they may differ in packaging or appearance.
This is all I can remember from my pharmacology knowledge
Both are equivalent in terms of safety, quality & efficacy but generic drugs are often cheaper due to the low development costs and competition among manufacturers.
The key difference lies in the name, patent and pricing of the drug, with generics offering a cost-effective alternative to the branded ones.
