Has the rise of digital health tools and online information strengthened or weakened the doctor-patient relationship?

It has made the patients better informedu. I don’t think doctor - patient relationship can be eroded so easily, but sometime patients come with their own understanding of the disease which is a problem.

Digital era has both pros and cons regarding Doctor Patient Relationship such as :

Pros:

  1. Increased accessibility and convenience through telemedicine
  2. Improved communication through secure messaging and patient portals
  3. Enhanced patient engagement and empowerment through online health resources
  4. Better continuity of care through electronic health records (EHRs)
  5. Increased efficiency and reduced wait times

Cons:

  1. Potential loss of personal touch and empathy in virtual consultations
  2. Security and privacy concerns with electronic health records and online communication
  3. Miscommunication or misinterpretation of digital messages
  4. Overreliance on technology, potentially leading to decreased face-to-face interaction
  5. Digital divide and unequal access to technology for some patients.

it goes both the ways.
It strengthens when it comes to helping doctors to help the patient better but it weakens when a patient who is not much exposed to the technology interacts with the doctor.
