Ayurveda for diabetes: Can ancient remedies balance blood sugar?

Long before metformin, Ayurveda used herbs like Neem, Gudmar (Gymnema), Vijaysar, and Turmeric to manage Madhumeha (the ancient term for diabetes). These remedies aim to restore internal balance and improve insulin sensitivity naturally.

But with diabetes cases rising globally, especially in India, the big question is:

Can Ayurvedic approaches complement modern diabetes care, or are we risking unproven alternatives?

In acute diabetes ,
That has emerged recently or even within 5 yrs , it’s still sensitive enough and has no major complications
Its reversible

But after it turns chronic, the body becomes used to it , it starts showing degeneration.
Can’t be reversible

A rubber band when stretched can go back to its original form, even when it’s stretched for a longer period of time
BUT
Does it go back after its broken?

During ancient times, people were more towards prevention and took care of their body well enough
Unlike today when people forget to take care of themselves and find cures for the diseases that could have been prevented easily only if they decided to switch long ago

Ayurveda is not a quick fix, it’s a journey of life
unlike popping a pill to chase your sugar down while ignoring the root cause.

Preventive measures used to keep diabetes in check.

I see potential in these remedies, but they should complement not replace modern treatments, and must be used under medical guidance to ensure safety.
