Are We Running for a Job, or Running Away From Life?
From a young age, we are taught to study hard, get good grades, find a good job, earn well, and build a successful career.
And there’s nothing wrong with wanting a good career. But sometimes, the race becomes endless.
After one goal comes another—a better job, a higher salary, a promotion, another course, another certificate. We keep preparing for the future while forgetting to experience the present.
We postpone our happiness:
“I’ll relax after getting a job.”
“I’ll travel after my promotion.”
“I’ll spend more time with family when things settle down.”
But what if things never completely “settle down”?
As a student preparing for my career, I sometimes feel this pressure too. We want financial security and professional growth, but I also believe life shouldn’t begin only after we achieve our career goals.
A successful career is important, but so are our health, relationships, hobbies, experiences, and peace of mind.
Maybe we don’t need to stop running.
We just need to remember why we’re running—and not forget to live along the way.
Do you think we are building a career to improve our lives, or sometimes sacrificing our lives just to build a career?
