This one hit hard, especially the part about postponing happiness. You reach a point in life when even leisure makes you feel restless and guilty. There is this internalized pressure to take ‘productive’ rest, which is ironic.
You’ve Pointed out an important issue regarding the work-life balance, the fact that young professionals are expected to choose one is so heartbreaking at times.
I can very much relate to this I’m also transitioning from clinical to non-clinical sector and for the past 5 months I have been hustling, building new skills, doing new certification and stuck in an endless loop of job hunting. But I have realised lately that I should enjoy life a little and spend time with my family and loved ones because life is not only about career, it’s also about nurturing our human relationships and the relationship we share with ourselves. I know things don’t wait and opportunity don’t wait for you ,you have to fight for them but so do our family, friends and loved ones and most importantly, ourselves. We have to relax a little bit too.
Living fully and consciously in each moment is what matters most. Everything else comes along the way. Other aspects of life are important, but none are more important than life itself.
These days life have become like “ living from exam to exam “ Once we are done with an exam we immediately worry and start planning our next exam or are eaten up by anxiety not knowing what to do with the free period after exam and feel depressed. The competition is ruining the experience of living life normally
I read this somewhere and it stuck with me: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
My 2 cents!
Yeah, we are running to make our life better. The thing is we should not go for the excitement and we should bee in our own happiness and the safety and well-being of our family and the members who are close and the thing humanity must exist! If we understand the things positively we can avoid running for things simply.
I can completely relate to this. As a student and intern looking for a job, I often feel restless. Somewhere along the way, I forget to enjoy the little moments and get devoured in career building and finding a job.
Both need a balance which can be different for different people, enjoying life includes but is not limited to taking far away trips or watching every movie, it can also be indulging in novels or spending a few minutes with family everyday. Life can be found in little moments between the hustle for a career, doing hardwork and chasing goals makes the leisure worth it.
I think the same as well. As a student, who is always looking for internships and jobs, sometimes I ask myself if there will really be a time when I will rest.
But regardless of the situation, we move
Work life balance must go hand in hand, more or less of the either changes the meaning of life.
I think my opinion can be different from other. Accordingly to me our life is not here to get stuck in rat race.
We Born then pressure of Secondary Education, then college , then job - it can be government or private, and still at that point the challenges are not stop . Now the pressure is for high paying job and responsibilities of children’s . I don’t like that type of life .
The Income Source and education is important . But at the age of 35-40 person should be earn enough to get retired and then they have to enjoy life .
A career in healthcare strips away our youth, because we allow it to. What I’ve learned so far is that, your career is part of your life- not your whole life. Maintaining that balance entails unlearning that abandoning your hobbies won’t make you better at your job.
I think we are running out of life, just to get more money and stability we are compromising our health and family time which isn’t good
This was such needed post, people working in corporate should know that how important it is to maintain Work and Life balance. If we invest ourselves so much into our profession it will eventually drain us mentally. This should be understood by freshers too.
