Are we over sanitizing our lives and killing natural immunity?

Since COVID the use of hand sanitizers, disinfectant sprays, and antibacterial products has skyrocketed. It is very important to maintain our hygiene, but few times we use is too much without even the need to do so. scientists argue that our obsession with killing germs may be weakening our immune systems. The “hygiene hypothesis” suggests that limited exposure to microbes in early life might increase allergies, asthma, and autoimmune diseases.

It raises questions like:
Where should we draw the line between necessary hygiene and over sanitization?
Could this be contributing to the rise in lifestyle related immune disorders?

Yes it good to have hygiene regularly washing hand with soap before having our meal. And we should used hand sanitizer and disinfectant when necessary. Finding balance between hygiene and exposure to beneficial microbes can help support immune system.

It is good to maintain hygiene because it protect our body from germs and ultimately helps to live a healthy life but excess use of anything is bad so we have to find a balance between the hygiene and over sanitization

It is good to maintain hygiene while coming from restroom, preparing food or eating, sharing public places like atms elevator etc.
It will improve our health and immune systems, always wash our hands before eating.

I think we should keep basic hygiene like washing hands before eating, after using washroom etc,
But using too many antibacterial products at home daily is not always needed.

I had a habit of using it always. Now it got reduced as we are got over covid season. Atleast try to wash your hands properly once you are come after an outing.

Over doing anything can cause problems. Maintaining hygiene is fine but over doing sanitization will lead to problems. Some people start spraying sanitizer in the room without knowing that it can cause breathing problem and can kill natural immunity booster microbes.

Totally agreed

I think washing hands before eating is a good habbit
But using sanitizers any other products is also harmful for our skin sanitizers contains alcohol more usage of this causes skin allergies so its better to avoid harmful product

Anything of excess is always harmful. A good hygiene needs to be maintained for sure like sleeping on clean beds, washing your face everyday, brushing your teeth daily, washing hands before eating etc. But spraying a sanitizer on hands is not necessary always. The commercial sanitizers have many components in it and if you spray it on hands and then eat through your hands, all of it goes inside into your body. In long terms, this isn’t good for health. Besides, cleaning and washing hands or being particular about cleanliness to a higher extent can increase the occurrence of a mental health issue that’s part of OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder). So it’s better to take things lightly, use the sanitizer when there’s no option to wash your hands anywhere before you eat, use spoons during then, do not use the sanitizer when it’s not needed. Also, take your hands off from the face and eyes always, it’s anyways a good habit to inculcate to avoid other respiratory and skin issues, so this can be practiced.

At work place we don’t inhabit with them all so following hygienic practised is good
but after a time u develop the herd immunity , and that’s how we have always been immunised throughout our life .
Basic sanittion practised are ok but excessively using it is harmful
