Worth doing online skills and course in medical field or just waste of time

Online medical courses are generally worth the time and effort, offering many benefits such as flexibility to learn anytime and anywhere, access to the latest medical knowledge, and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional courses. They allow professionals and students to upskill or specialize without interrupting their work or clinical duties. Additionally, online programs offer certificates that help in career advancement and skill enhancement.

However, online learning cannot replace hands-on clinical training essential for practical skills in medicine. The quality and recognition of online courses vary, so choosing accredited and reputable programs is important. With self-discipline and the right course selection, online medical education can effectively supplement traditional training and keep healthcare professionals updated in a rapidly evolving field. Overall, online medical courses are a valuable investment, not a waste of time, when used to complement core practical education.

Yes, they are worth doing. Online courses can boost knowledge, skills, and your CV if you choose reputable ones; just avoid low-quality, certificate-only courses.

This post gives a balanced view on online medical courses. I agree that they’re flexible and helpful for students like us who want to learn without leaving other duties. The certificates also add value to our resume. But yes, practical skills still need hands-on training, which online platforms can’t fully provide. Choosing the right course really matters. With discipline and smart planning, online learning can support our growth in the medical field. It’s a good option when used wisely.

I think online medical courses are worth it, especially for flexibility and updated knowledge. But yes, clinical practice can never be replaced by a screen

Online medical courses are a big advantage for people in this field. Without taking a big gap in your career or quitting a job you can gain new skills. Just the course should be relevant.

I completely agree. Online courses are helpful in up scaling skills.

Choose course which provide online studies and provide hand on courses for some time period. I have seen this type of courses are in pratice right now very much.

Its good to advance your knowledge and experience.

Yes I totally agree with you.

Online medical courses are good and can be done during college, and also during job and its also cost effect if we find. Its not the waste of time its a great opportunity to learn more and add more and more skills and it also help to improve Resume.

I think online courses are best because they are more flexible and more time saving compared to offline ones. Many students prefer online than offline and some of them say offline ones are better. I think students who distract easily should opt for offline ones as they offer classroom environment. in my opinion both are worth doing.

Online courses in the medical and pharmacy fields can offer real value like flexibility for busy schedules, learning niche skills unavailable locally, and often costing less than in-person programs. They’re especially attractive for professionals juggling work and study.
But it’s not always worth it research shows most non-degree credentials don’t lead to career boosts unless they’re in high-demand areas like nursing or radiology, or well-recognized by employers. Without the right course matching real needs, online learning risks being more hype than help.

What matters most? Pick courses that align with job requirements or licensing needs especially those approved or acknowledged by bodies like the National Medical Commission (NMC) or Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). That’s where MedBound Times has highlighted the growing impact of healthcare-specific executive programs, like IIT Delhi’s new AI in Healthcare online course launching in November 2025.

Online medical courses enhance theoretical knowledge, update doctors with latest developments, and upgrade research ability. Practical clinical experience is required for real medical skill. They work in tandem—online education is not a waste but not a substitute for clinical practice.

Online courses are worth our time, they help in personal upskilling at our required level.

Online courses in the medical field can be highly valuable if chosen wisely. They help professionals update knowledge, learn new skills, and stay aligned with global medical advancements. However, not all courses hold equal credibility—selecting certified and recognized programs is key to ensuring time is invested, not wasted.

It’s only worth if it matches what jobs you apply for, they should have similar areas of interest. Just doing a bunch of courses and putting in your CV will just highlight that a person is confused. Right online courses and then putting them to practical application will make you stand out.

Not a waste of time for sure—I did one with MedBound Times and now I’m working with the same organization.

Go through the reviews, mentor profiles, syllabus, and clear up any doubts you may have. Also, check whether it’s pre-recorded videos or live classes, and if so:

  • Will any hands-on training be provided?

  • How does the doubt-clearing process work?

Take these factors into account and then decide accordingly.

Software skills can be increased and very helpful in industry.
