When you think of someone’s core, you picture six-pack abs. Medically and functionally, your core is a support system that affects nearly every movement your body makes. Strengthening it goes a long way in stability, longevity and injury prevention.
The muscles of the core are a protection for your spine and pelvis. These include:
- Transverse abdominus
- internal and external obliques
- rectus abdominus
- multifidus
- pelvic floor muscles
- diaphragm
- gluteal muscles
Why a strong core is essential:
- spinal stability and posture
- balance and coordination
- Improved breathing
- efficient movement
- less injury
How to strengthen your core safely:
you don’t need a gym to start with, just consistency and control. here are some beginner friendly exercises which we can all look up on youtube:
- dead-bug
- bird-dog
