Why routines are easy to break than habits?

Routines are often easy to break because they depend on heavily motivation and not on discipline like habits do. When life becomes stressful, busy, hectic, chaotic, routines are the first thing to break. Even missing a day feels heavy and people often won’t restart it.

Habits on other hand takes longer than forming an routine, which is usually driven by discipline, consistency, mental strength and not by momentary motivation. It takes 21 days to form a habit until it becomes a automatic process. Until then it is challenging to maintain it.

Focusing on consistency rather than perfection help habits to become a part of the life.

Exercise was my habit during my graduation days, but maintaining it is quite difficult these days Although we teach them to patients, for us it is very difficult to maintain that routine of exercises.

Exercising and going on diet or sugar cut is always a difficult routine in manitain
