In our day-to-day routine life, despite knowing there are a few habits that are to be changed and withdrawn from our life, often we are incompetent to uninstall the habit from our routine.
Though a habit is executed with conscious thought perceiving it to be within control, it is automated under the influence of the subconscious mind and cued based on the brain’s reward system and the release of the dopamine hormone.
Said this doesn’t mean that it’s not possible but it is a tedious process which requires a lot of discipline and self-control. The reason human beings do a particular thing is for happiness.
Hence when one habit is to be withdrawn there should be an alternative which gives pleasure tantamount to the old habit thus serving as a tool to trick our brain and let the entry of new compatible habit
I agree with the alternative. It difficult to break a bad habit unless we are very determined or have good mechanism to deal with breaking the habit. Having an alternative habit is a more sustainable change that can keep us from going back to the bad habit
initially it’s difficult to break a habit because our brain is already adapted to it. But that doesn’t mean we can’t change-- it just takes time, consistency, and effort to build a new healthier habit.
I agree. When neuronal connections become strong, habits get deeply wired, so breaking them isn’t easy or instant. Instead, building better habits over time can slowly replace the old ones.
Bad habits are like parasites they deeply settle in our minds and are not easy to remove. So when a person decides that they want to break their bad habits the first thing they need to do is prepare themselves mentally rather than procrastinating.
It’s not easy but, in the end only we control our lives. Small and slow changes make big impact.
