Nowadays, medical students in India are everywhere.
But opportunities? Not really.
Many families invest lakhs—or even crores—into medical or dental education, believing it guarantees a stable, high-paying future.
But the reality hits differently.
The biggest problem?
The return on investment simply doesn’t add up. Private medical education can cost anywhere from ₹40 lakh to ₹1+ crore. Dental courses, ₹15–40 lakh.
And after all that?
A fresh graduate earns around ₹15k–₹50k per month.
Now think about it. An education loan EMI alone can cross ₹60k/month. Before you even start living… you’re already in debt. And it doesn’t stop there.
During internship, many private colleges pay minimal stipends— sometimes as low as ₹7k…and in some cases, nothing at all . You literally pay to work.
Then comes the harsh truth:
An MBBS or BDS degree alone is often not enough anymore. To earn decently, you are pushed into specialization—NEET PG or MDS. And if you don’t get a government seat? Another ₹30 lakh to ₹1 crore. The cycle continues. Meanwhile…
Hidden costs keep adding up—
hostel fees, exam charges, yearly hikes. And in some colleges, even clinical exposure is questionable.Less patients… less experience…more uncertainty.
So what does this lead to?
High investment
Low starting income
Long-term debt
Delayed stability
That’s why it feels like a scam. Not because medicine isn’t valuable—but because the system is imbalanced. Before choosing this path,don’t just follow the dream.
Because in today’s world, passion alone isn’t enough— you need strategy too.
