Hello I am a dentist working with a low salary scale eventhough I struggled a lot to get admission to a good college completed 5 year degree and still earing low than one who is still a high-school graduate. What do everyone think about this low salary scale. Is the system need to be revised or Is this ok?!!
There used to be a time when Doctors were placed at the top of middle class pyramid in India. They were the actual “upper middle class” having the highest disposable income. But today, things have changed. Middle class is in crisis. And Doctors are no longer enjoy that high income status.
Salary scale is pathetic in India right now .. in every medical field you are expected to get post graduation after your degree.. the exorbitant fees in the private medical colleges put u in debt for your lifetime if u can’t secure a seat in govt colleges (which is limited ) and still the quality of education is very low compared to the world health standards .. those who are really doing well migrate abroad for better salaries and working conditions .. the world outside India is benefitting from those good doctors .. can’t blame the doctors bcoz they also prefer sane working conditions
This is a matter of shame that highly educated and trained professional doctors (dentists) in India have to struggle like this. This has to do with defective policy and in general public outlook also. There might be an apparent excess of dentists in India, but there’s a huge unmet demand of dental services, more so in rural areas.
In the USA, dentists are a class apart! They always have many patients and make a lot of money! Health insurance is one of the major factors contributing to that, in addition public awareness.
In India dental care should be a part of health insurance. That way, many will be able to see the dentists and oral hygiene will also improve.
In India, becoming a doctor is still seen as a “noble profession,” but nobility doesn’t pay the bills. Unless systemic reforms are made—better pay, working conditions, and recognition—the field risks losing its brightest to burnout or brain drain.
Salary scale in medical if we check in india for me I think become a MBBS doctor is the highest paid in medical but it is also depend on you how you doing in other medical fields but for me I think MBBS doctor or doctor highest salary scale in medical
“Nobility does not pay the bills”- Right on the spot!
You’re absolutely righ there has been a significant shift in the economic status of doctors in India over the years.
That is so hearbreaking to see…
Compared to private jobs, salaries for medical professionals (doctors, dentists, pharmacy)in govt sector pays a bit decent, but vacancies are less!
The salary scale in medical field is low. But that doesn’t mean for all. There are doctors with top salary and they are paid well. But the budding doctors are the ones who has to compromise and struggle.
The nursing and pharmacy professions are more worse were they get paid lower than an illiterate worker, yet work night shifts, extra duties, extension duties, etc.
When we have a standard minimal payscale, weighing the amount of work done by each profession in medical field, we may get to see a raise in salary for the service that’s provided. Also the health insurence also plays a pivotal role.
Totally valid point. After years of hard work and a demanding degree, earning less than a high school graduate feels unfair. The system definitely needs to be revised—dental professionals deserve pay that reflects their skill, effort, and importance in healthcare.
