All hospitals must give stipends. It will make interns more empathetic and more intested in their postings.

Stipends should be compulsory. Interns work hard and deserve fair pay, not free labor.

Let’s be real — working 24 to even 36 hours straight, handling patients, running around wards, skipping meals and still being expected to stay sharp and then getting paid ₹20k or sometimes nothing. That doesn’t sit right.

Interns are not just learning — they’re actually working. They handle real responsibilities, take real calls and are part of the backbone of a hospital. So yes, 100% stipend should be compulsory, and it should be fair.
It’s not about the money — it’s about basic respect for the time, energy and care that interns put in every single day.

So true! Interns are such a vital backbone of the hospital. I remember the sacrosanct task of performing UA was bestowed upon interns in medicine wards (when I was an intern at MGIMS). Collecting sample to checking Urine ketones and urine sugar in the ward itself were solely the prerogative of interns. So vital were we in the whole management of patients.:smiling_face::smiling_face::smiling_face:
