To avoid overthinking we can always try to live in present. We can also keep our self busy in our daily life activities but most important is to change our mindset from negative to postive

I also struggle with overthinking sometimes, especially during exams or decisions. I try to distract myself with small tasks, writing thoughts down, or talking to a friend. If it starts affecting daily life or sleep, I do think it’s okay to consult a doctor or counselor.

Sometimes overthinking is normal (if it lasts for a brief time-period), when it is compelling you to get an important work done and after that you feel relaxed. But if this overthinking is related to some thoughts that are unwanted and are causing you more distress, then in that case, some coping strategies are needed to manage the process of overthinking. To tackle overthinking, I prefer distractions sometimes, because I have learnt that our minds want to get fixated on something. So whenever I find that it is clinging onto a thought that’s giving me more distress, then I try to put my mind into something else purposely and get busy with it being mindful. Automatically after some time I see that the overthinking is gone. If the thoughts during the process of overthinking include intrusive or compulsive or obsessive thoughts or thoughts of extreme perfection, then in that case it’s better to consult both a psychiatrist and a clinical/counseling psychologist.

If we keep our mind busy with some creative work and doing meditation this problem can be solved.

By lack of self confidence we usually overthinks. It could happen with me also majority of the time. I think there is no need to visit any doctor
