Patriarchal systems have historically controlled women’s bodies and roles… and also cultural norms and religious interpretations have selectively burdened women.

Yes it can be potential reason. But what I have observed is these myths can be vanished but nowadays because of some of the women itself, their existence is there now as well. Don’t you think so ?

Unfair it is

You’ve raised an important point, Harshita. It’s true that sometimes women themselves may unknowingly perpetuate these myths often because these beliefs have been deeply ingrained over generations. But I feel we should look at this not as a personal failing, but as a reflection of how powerful social conditioning can be. When systems are patriarchal for centuries, even those who are affected by them may come to accept or defend them as “normal.” That’s why awareness and education are so crucial to help everyone, regardless of gender, recognize and challenge these patterns.

I am curious to know how Keralites feel about this issue, given that Kerala is a matriarchal society.
@subhamahes98

its true that the patriarchal society made taboos to control women

Yes, these things will affect women in different stages of their life. It is more common in India more than anywhere else.

Yes. It’s really sad that women being the creator of life, are still treated conservatively and have forced with so much unnecessary responsibilities and myths.

We mostly function as a patriarchal society and it has been there since ages now. Gradually over the years, big changes have definitely come and now men are understanding all these issues too. But for a cumulative change to come, that’s visible on a large scale in society, it will take time. Besides, it is time for all the women to create some energetic boundaries too in their personal lives without being hard on the concept of familial structure. Any change begins individually first till it reaches at a level, where it is largely seen.
