The change of air and scenario after so many years can definitely take some getting used to.
The big picture of a certain medical institutions and their atmosphere is never spoken about.
What are some golden nuggets of info a medico can keep in their mind before stepping foot in an Indian OPD among new crowds?
As an FMG in an Indian OPD, be respectful of local language and culture, stay calm in crowded, fast-paced settings, and focus on key complaints. Patients may present late or hide symptoms, so be patient and observant. Show empathy, maintain hygiene, ask seniors when unsure, and document findings clearly.
As an Indian student studying MBBS abroad, it feels good to get advice from fellow FGMS who have already been through this. Thank you for sharing this!
I first stepped into non clinical path as an FMG doctor and the hospital environment was drastically different.
The protocol, function, policies, staff everything was different.
One thing to keep in mind is the main aim of the job that is “patient care”… Be empathetic, understanding, respectful and open for challenges🙌
