What do you do in your free time?

As we are in the digital world, there is no shortage of information and entertainment. When we were kids, when the digital world had not flourished as much, we had plenty of games to play and hobbies to pursue.
Today, we don’t have enough leisure time but even a five minute break forces us to check our phones. It certainly is not doing good to us, we ought to break this cycle. Even though we might have tool to pursue our hobbies or just stay silent for two minutes with ourselves, we are unable to do it.
Please share your tips on how you are trying to break out of this vicious circle?

I usually follow the Pomodoro technique- 30minutes complete focus and then 5mins break. it really helps me stay consistent and get back on the track.

Stop for 5-10 min, do box breathing, talk to friends, go on a walk, and spend time with yourself> we are forgetting to enjoy life!! Jobs are part of life, we are creating it “The Life”!! When your mind is fresh, you are happy, and work quality increases as well.

I’ll try that.

Good suggestion.

Keeping our phones away from us decreases the chance of we using it while in free time.

I think it largely depends on perspective. People who genuinely want to pursue their hobbies usually find ways to do so. Often, the challenge isn’t the lack of resources or opportunities, but our own tendency to procrastinate or stay within our comfort zones.

Taking care for my cat. Taking a few minutes to peek at my cat gives enough to keep going.

Personally for me, I spend a lot of time with my pet dog. It really helps to bring a sense of peace and calm in midst of all the chaos and everyday life cycle.

Talking about screen time and using phone, even though when we try to stay away from it most of the work we have needs electronic devices and unfortunately we can’t fully eliminate that. So I think everyone must find that balance to keep it neutral and not spend too much time on screens.

It takes a lot of effort to do that.

Agreed.

That’s great.

Rightly said.

Staying focused for half and hour and taking breaks with no phone use just like one green Walk or listening to music.

It’ll surely be refreshing.

Read and dissociate for a while. Our Busy lives can often cause burnout and mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion. It can be quite taxing on the body as well as the mind. Taking time off from busy schedules, even if it’s for just a little while, can help calm the body and mind.
You don’t necessarily have to do anything, it could be just sitting in silence, listening to music or just observing things happening around you.

I really wish to make all these ideas in to practice, as me myself is trying to reduce the scrolling. I restrict my usage with app lock facility, where we can fix how much time we should be using the particular app after which it gets locked.

I think exercising (including jogging, walking or dancing) for 30 - 40 minutes in a day is a good way to disconnect from digital world and be more aligned with our surroundings.
