Traditional Steam: Fomentation Therapy using heated bricks

When people heat a brick, pour water on it and use the steam to treat joint pain, it is a form of heat therapy called hot fomentation. Often used in Indian households and villages.

This method gives relief from joint pain, muscle stiffness, and swelling. The heat increases blood flow, relaxes the muscle, and reduces pain.

Ever heard about this?

Will you try traditional steam (or) go to physiotherapy?

It depends on our preference and condition. If we’re looking for relaxation or muscle recovery, traditional steam might help. But if we’re dealing with specific injuries or need targeted treatment, physiotherapy would be more effective.

Yes, I’ve actually seen this in my village, My grandma used to use heated bricks for joint pain, and she always said it gave instant relief. It’s so simple but really effective. I think both have their place traditional methods work well for mild pain, but for something serious, I’d still prefer physiotherapy with proper guidance.
