Tooth sensitivity is a sign that your tooth is trying to grab your attention, that something is wrong with the particular tooth or region. It’s important to consult the dentist to rule out the possible causes for the sensitivity like:

  1. Exposure of dentin
  2. Attrition, abfarction, cervical abrasions
  3. Cavities
  4. Gum diseases
  5. Fractured restorations
  6. Fractured tooth
  7. Even bleaching sometimes causes sensitivity, which is temporary!!

Here are some tips that might help tackle sensitivity till you consult your dentist:

  1. Use a desensitizing toothpaste and also tooth paste with fluoride. Fluoride helps in protecting enamel from caries.
  2. Avoid very hot and cold food.
  3. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and use gentle brushing techniques.

Any issues with the tooth have to be treated physically by the dentist to find out the root cause and provide appropriate treatment.
