TLC & DLC in Blood Reports: Decode the Clues of Your Immune System!
TLC (Total Leukocyte Count):
Measures total number of white blood cells (WBCs).
Normal range: 4,000 – 11,000 cells/µL.
High TLC suggests: Infection, inflammation, leukemia.
Low TLC may indicate: Viral infections, bone marrow suppression, autoimmune diseases.
DLC (Differential Leukocyte Count):
Breaks down % of different WBC types: Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Eosinophils, Basophils, Monocytes.
Changes in WBC types help pinpoint specific types of infections (bacterial, viral, parasitic, allergic, etc.)
Key Medical Insights:
Neutrophilia → Suggests bacterial infection or stress.
Lymphocytosis → Common in viral infections or chronic illnesses.
Eosinophilia → Allergies or parasitic infestations.
Monocytosis → Chronic infections like TB or autoimmune diseases.
Basophilia → Rare; may suggest chronic inflammation or blood disorders.
Why This Matters:
-Don’t ignore abnormal counts — they’re early warning signs.
Timely diagnosis = faster treatment = Better recovery!
