The numbers and letters used in blood tests, such as CBC, HbA1c, LDL, and ESR, can be complicated, but each one provides information about your health. For example, a Complete Blood Count (CBC) may reveal symptoms of infection or anemia. While cholesterol panels (HDL, LDL, and triglycerides) aid in determining the risk of heart disease, the HbA1c measures how effectively your blood sugar levels have been controlled over the previous three months.
Knowing these numbers enables you to ask the appropriate questions when you see a doctor, but it is not evidence of self-diagnosis. The next time you receive your results, discuss them with your doctor rather than just throwing them away. Your body’s “health report card” is expressed by these numbers.
What do you check and understand from your blood test report ?
