The first day of dental college is not just the beginning of an academic journey
it is an emotional transition.
I still remember standing there, carrying a mix of fear, excitement, and hesitation. It felt unfamiliar, almost overwhelming, as if I had stepped into a world I had only imagined from afar. There was a quiet voice within me, filled with happiness the joy of finally walking on the path to becoming a doctor. Yet, alongside it, existed an unspoken doubt: “Will I be able to do it?”
With all these emotions intertwined, I chose to move forward.
Leaving behind my home in Kolkata and travelling to Kanpur was more than just a physical journey
it was a step towards independence. Visiting the college and hostel for the first time, I realized what it truly meant to be away from the comfort of family, from the warmth of parents, from everything familiar.
It was my first experience of being on my own.
But somewhere deep within, I understood success often demands sacrifice. And this was mine.
With whatever preparation, knowledge, and determination I carried, I stepped ahead not with certainty, but with faith. Faith in the journey, faith in the process, and faith in the dream of one day earning the title of “Doctor.”
And perhaps, that is where it all truly begins.
