Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram (SSBSK)

A big Community Medicine Update :-

Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram (SSBSK) was officially launched on June 29, 2026 and it focuses on providing continuous, comprehensive care and health screening for children from birth to 36 months of age.

It is integrated with previous programmes like the Home-Based Newborn Care (HBNC) and Home-Based Care for Young Child (HBYC).

Main Aim is to provide early detection of low birth weight, premature birth (pre-term), and developmental problems with the help of routine checkups and digital screening.

SSBSK will also incorporate post-partum maternal mental health screening as an important aspect for newborn nurturing and healthcare.

Good initiative. I liked the post-partum maternal mental health screening. This will help new mothers to cope up with stress and depression postpartum.

Good initiative by the central government.
Consistency is the key.
It has to cover all the remote areas of India.

A welcome step forward. The success of SSBSK will ultimately depend on effective implementation, timely follow-up, and strong community-level participation.
