Indian health care system has several government schemes that help make medical treatment more accessible and affordable. For a health care worker, knowing these schemes is essential to guiding patients and improving outcomes.
- Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY): One of the most commonly known schemes. It provides up to Rs. 5 Lakh per family annually for hospitalization, helping low-income patients access cashless treatment.
- Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centers: It focuses on prevention and primary management, care of the patient, including screening for diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and other seasonal and common disorders. It provides free drugs and basic diagnostic test for free.
- Janani Suraksha Yojana: one of the most important and precious schemes, it promotes institutional deliveries by offering financial support to pregnant women, free maternal and newborn check, free drugs, and free transportation. The aim is to reduce the maternal and neonatal mortality rate.
- Universal Immunization Program: One of the largest global programs providing free vaccines covering infants, children, and pregnant women.
- Mental Health Mission: The Address mental health issues in the community, provide mental healthcare, awareness, and stigma reduction.
