Pros and Cons of Social media on patients/ public.

Social media is a valuable tool for patient education and raising public awareness, but it also spreads misinformation that can create panic among patients.
What should be done to address this issue?

The pros can be easy accessibility, convience, etc.

The cons are that everyone tries to be an expert.

It is sole responsibility of common people to follow and accept advise from only credible and subject matter experts.

Exactly, people blindly follows influencers advice without even getting screened or something

Prons: For making awareness about different disease.
Cons: They themselves will diagnose by searching with the symptoms and will treat themselves through social media influencers advise.

Cons can be they try to treat themselves with that half knowledge

Its true. Nowadays, yes there are lot of healthcare influencers that are doing amazing job by spreading awareness but there are unverified people as well who can mislead.

It is somewhere impossible to block and report them all together but what can be in our hands is to verify the information by taking guidance from other Healthcare professionals and then trust or believe that information.

Pros: with internet the , many people are open up about there conditions which were taboo
Cons: many influencer sell and share wrong information and products

  • There should be some digital awakening among patients about this.
  • Patients should be encouraged to ask questions.
  • We should encourage Heathcare professionals creating content to create meaningful and easy content.
