The rise of medical influencers and their impact?

Medical influencers can sometimes spread misinformation or promote products without solid evidence. They often oversimplify complex health issues, which can mislead people. Without proper qualifications, they may give advice that isn’t medically sound, creating unnecessary fear or false hope.

they are targeting vulnerable sick people for their own benefits like promoting their herb supplements without any research

I personally am not comfortable with seeing patients on insta reels with doctors explaining the full patient history… especially of the ones who cannot consent… whether a minor or any vulnerable person

educational awareness is needed that is understandable… but when it shifts to the metrics… the view, the likes… are patients being truly safeguarded from that?

@Dr.Harshwardhan I agree with your thought and point so government can bring regulation for content creation on medical infleuncer and raise question regarding wrong and right . Government sit with expert of medical profession and bring a regulation society for medical influencer.

They are spreading wrong information also about medical science to get more views

I think it’s double edged sword :upside_down_face:!

Medical influencers do not give correct information. They tell any facts or remedies by looking at any social media page. They do not care whether this information is correct for the audience or not. They are only concerned about their paid sponsorship.
If you are collecting any information from a social media influencer, then first consult your doctor about that information and then adopt that remedy because this is a matter of health and not a fashion issue where you accept whatever is told.

Since it’s the time of digitalization , influencing is on peak and so is medical influencing too. There are many influencers out there who do it in order to earn a penny or two but we can’t ignore the good ones too. Every coin has two sides similarly medical influencing also has its own pros and cons. Medical influencers have created new opportunities for medico’s who are struggling financially . It has also helped medico’s to channelize the creativity inside them . It has made people more aware about how important is health . I’m not against it but one should be careful about whom they follow . Nobody should be followed blindly . Stay safe!

@Moksha_s i agree with your thought and point.
