Post extraction instructions that dentist sholud tell their patients

1.Bite firmly on a gauze for 30-45 mins after the 2 extraction to stop bleeding.
2.Do not rinse or spit vigorously for the first 24 hours.
3.Apply ice packs for the first 48 hours to reduce swelling and pain.
4.Take prescribed pain medication as directed by your dentist
5.Stick to a liquid or very soft diet which is not too hot and not too spicy.
6.Gradually transition to a soft diet after 2days.
You can resume brushing regularly but be careful at the extraction site.
7.Refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol, as they affect your healing
8.If you experience excessive bleeding, severe pain, or signs of
infection (fever, swelling, pus) contact your dentist.
9.Eat something cold like ice cream or yogurt as they help in clotting.

10.Keep your fingers and tongue away from the socket or surgical site

We still remember guiding patient to have specifically vanilla ice cream and not other chewy flavoured ones hahaha

Yes and avoid nuts in ice cream , ask them to eat in a cup.:grin:

Always remind them to complete the course of antibiotics prescribed even though they start to feel better.
Not to drink anything using straws.
