Thanks for the info!
If your dentist tells you risk of peri-apical infection, as per protocol, analgesics and anti-inflammatory meds should be diligently followed.
A dental infection when untreated/ignored leads the path to major Head & Neck infections later.
An additional point, Painkillers in combination with serratiopeptidase have been discontinued due to it’s ADR of causing deeper infection and reduced drainage. Check the NSAID prescribe always.
After RCT, patients should know:
- Avoid chewing on the treated tooth until fully restored.
- Manage sensitivity and pain with prescribed medication.
- Follow up for crown or filling placement to protect the tooth.
Important things a patient must know after Root Canal Treatment (RCT):
-
Avoid chewing on the treated tooth immediately: The tooth might be fragile after RCT, so patients should avoid chewing hard or sticky foods on that side until a permanent restoration (like a crown) is placed.
-
Maintain good oral hygiene: Keeping the area clean is essential to prevent infection. Patients should continue regular brushing and flossing but be gentle around the treated tooth.
-
Follow-up appointments are crucial: The patient must return for the final restoration (usually a crown) and regular check-ups to ensure the tooth heals properly and remains functional long-term.
