Pharmacy Students Don’t Lack Talent — They Lack Recognition

Do pharmacy students only “dispense medicines”?
• No. They study drug development, safety, efficacy, and regulation in depth.

Is pharmacy an easy course?
• Long lab hours, complex calculations, and multiple core subjects say otherwise.

Do pharmacy students lack skills?
• They handle formulation design, clinical data, quality standards, and drug safety monitoring.

Then what is missing?
• Recognition, visibility, and proper career guidance.

Why does this matter?
• Because behind every safe medicine, there is scientific work done by pharmacy professionals.

What do pharmacy students really need?
• Respect for their role, awareness of their contribution, and opportunities to grow.

Final Thought:
Pharmacy students are not lacking talent. They are waiting for a system that sees, values, and supports what they bring to healthcare.

Pharmacy students in India are well trained but often under-recognized despite their critical role in drug safety, quality and patient care. What’s truly needed is better awareness, structured career guidance and respect for the profession’s contribution to healthcare system.

As a dentist, I see firsthand how crucial pharmacists and pharmacy students are to patient care - from medication counselling to antimicrobial stewardship. Pharmacy students don’t lack talent; they often lack the platform and recognition they deserve. Interprofessional collaboration and visibility can help unlock their potential and improve patient outcomes across healthcare. :glowing_star::tooth::pill:
