pharmacists role in patient counseling?

While doctors focus on diagnosis and treatment planning, wouldn’t it be ideal if pharmacists took a bigger role in guiding patients about their medications, how to take them, possible side effects, and what to avoid?

After all, they’re the medication experts, shouldn’t their role in patient counseling be expanded?

Absolutely, pharmacists are highly trained in pharmacology and can play a vital role in patient education. Expanding their role in counseling would not only improve medication adherence but also help prevent drug interactions and side effects. While doctors manage diagnosis and overall treatment, pharmacists can ensure patients understand how to use their medications safely and effectively. It’s a team effort—and better collaboration can lead to better outcomes.
