As the festive season has begun and every family is planning everything from shopping to food preparation, there are some people who experience FOMO (the fear of missing out).
Many gather as a family, enjoy parties, and go out. But some prefer to stay at home, or might be working. The festive blues are not just a phrase but an experience. Mostly, people tend to compare themselves with others who are enjoying the season. Even if they are busy, they force themselves to act as if they are enjoying the festive season.
Social media adds to this already existing circumstance, especially influencers who make the general audience believe that perfect styling, an updated wardrobe, and high-end accessories are important for creating a perfect festive look with picture-perfect photography.
How do we solve this?
- Instead of comparing your lifestyle with someone else’s, try to put things into perspective and set realistic expectations.
- Limit social media comparisons.
- Don’t make impulsive buying decisions.
- Engage in meaningful activities or routine chores.
- Value your emotions.
